The Neanderthal Museum was built in 1996 not far from the world-famous Neanderthal site. It is dedicated to human evolution and thus has a unique selling point in the German museum landscape. With contemporary exhibitions, immersive installations, exciting workshops on Stone Age techniques and a variety of guided tours and activities for all age groups and occasions, a visit to the museum guarantees a learning experience with a wow factor. The museum is surrounded by the Höhlenblick adventure tower, the Stone Age playground, the Ice Age game enclosure, the Stone Age workshop and the art trail. Together with the museum, they form the Neandertal Adventure World. With 165,000 visitors a year, the Neandertal Adventure World is a tourist attraction that invites the whole family on day trips.
