LVR-Industrialmuseum

What was it like back then in the Rhineland, when countless looms were still whirring and chimneys were smoking? What was it like to work on a steam hammer and how did industrialisation change people’s lives? You can still experience all of this up close today at the LVR Industrial Museum.

The LVR Industrial Museum comprises seven museum sites in the Rhineland. The history of industry in the Rhineland and the people who worked there is told in former factories. The focus is on metal, textiles, paper and electricity. Tailor-made programmes, such as the electricity workshop at the Ermen & Engels power plant in Engelskirchen or the metal workshop at the Hendrichs drop forge in Solingen, make technical issues tangible. The other museums in Oberhausen, Ratingen, Bergisch Gladbach and Euskirchen also offer exciting hands-on exhibitions and educational programmes where visitors can try out and tinker.
