What does it feel like to stroke a tornado of fog or lie on a bed of nails like a fakir? At the phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg, over 330 different hands-on stations invite visitors to try things out and be amazed. Children, young people and adults have fun exploring the secrets of science and technology and gaining new insights in a playful way. There is something for everyone to experience at phaeno. That’s a promise! And the best thing is that you can have a say in and influence the whole experience. Building self-supporting bridges, generating pendulum waves, analysing DNA, launching a hydrogen rocket or operating electrical devices using muscle power – the joy of discovery takes you through interesting topics such as energy, maths, sensing and life.
Star architect Zaha Hadid designed the impressive building, whose structure towers high above the street. Inside, an adventure land unfolds with craters, terraces and plateaus – a perfect environment for exciting exhibits, changing exhibitions and special programmes.
